St. Augustine musician Elizabeth Roth journeyed to Jacksonville on April 26 to entertain a wall to wall crowd at The Junction Tavern. The versatile singer was eager to please the attentive crowd as she played every request she received from her playlist of 300 songs by more than 200 artists.

With the guitar given to her by her father over 20 years ago in hand, Roth seamlessly covered tunes from artists as varied as James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Mary Chapin-Carpenter, Alanis Morissette, and 10,000 Maniacs. She also added her own flair to perennial favorites from the Indigo Girls, Tracy Chapman, k.d. lang and Melissa Etheridge.

The talented artist has been playing professionally for over seven years, inspired by her father's faith in her abilities to turn her passion into her profession.

"My father always said I would do this professionally," Roth said. "He would say, 'Listen to Elizabeth sing and play; this is what she is going to do.' I never believed him until about seven years ago when I started to do this and thought, 'This is really cool; I really enjoy this.' "

Roth is available for private bookings as well as other events and can be contacted at 829-8916 or caught in the act in St. Augustine at Mi Casa Cafe on St. George Street or Trade Winds on Charlotte Street.
